The digital process has opened the fantastic world of photography to more people than ever before and the importance of images in our daily personal and business life has never been greater. However the group learning experience is not for everybody.
After running a large numbers of group photography workshops it became apparent that some people just got left behind in the group and needed more time to get to grips with specific aspects of the training. Other people need to look at much more defined aspects of photography and the ideal for them would be to spend the entire day just concentrating on the one particular area of interest.
In addition, given the very outdoor and potentially physical nature of landscape photography some clients are happy to walk for miles in the hills whilst other for many reasons prefer to focus on more accessible subjects.
For these people and many others, individual or ”one 2 one” photographic training is the perfect solution.
On individual training course I concentrate on your specific needs and requirements. Many past individual training clients have commented that their photography skills have progressed greatly after just a few hours of individual tuition.
These, courses you not only dictate the content, but also the pace of learning you are most comfortable with. Training will be targeted to your level and your equipment.
We can cover technical subjects ranging from the most basic camera settings right through how to use the latest “Big Stopper” ND filters or Perspective Control lenses. Alternatively we can look in detail at subjects such as using graduated ND filters or how to achieve that perfect image sharpness from the front of an image to the most distant horizon. In terms of subjects and locations. These can be anything from wild coastal landscape to the most modern architecture
I am happy to share any knowledge I have with you not only about the technical aspects of photography, but also more specific details about running a photographic business, finding suitable stock libraries and other opportunities to display and market your work.
One of our most popular subjects at the moment is Lo Tec photography using Pinhole cameras and many other devices to create more artistic images. I am finding an ever, growing number of people wanting to look at more traditional methods of photography including large format film.
So no matter what type of camera you have from a wooden pinhole through to the latest digital compact system camera, or SLRs, I am sure we can make your understanding of photography progress in the way you would like. In fact if you are considering photography as a hobby and have not yet purchased a camera, I am happy to loan you all the equipment you need to get the most from your individual training day
Also in our normal photography work be use both film and digital media so we are happy to work with photographers who choose to use film rather than digital capture methods.
Past clients have included the complete novice with a compact camera through to professionals looking to develop a new skill or revenue stream for their business.
We can also look at most aspects of digital postproduction, using the latest software packages and I am happy to train Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, Nikon Capture NX and Phase one Capture One. Most of our postproduction courses come with sets of actions and presets that I have developed over the years which you will be able to take away and use on your own computers.
Many courses come with written notes, which you can take away to further develop your skills and very importantly all courses come with post course telephone and e-mail support. If after the course you find you just need that little extra help or advice then I am only a phone call or quick e-mail away.
I can be booked for both full and, half day sessions or in fact longer if thats what you need. The following prices are based on tuition at locations with about one hour of my base in Preston. If you need me to travel further I will be happy to provide a quotation for my additional expenses.
Half Day (4 hours tuition) £150.00 Full Day (8 hours tuition) £250.00
Discounts are available for multiple day bookings and I am happy to look at working with you on specific projects or locations.
Should you wish to combine your training day with a friend or possibly put together a small camera club meeting the I will be happy to quote for this service. As an example a full day training for four photographers would be £350.00 Gift vouchers and certificates are available and can be used as full or part payment on any courses booked.
